I have been using windows xp home edition for sometime in
my dell computer. When starting it yesterday I obtaina
blue screen that said " unmountably boot error" and thats
as far as i go, Can anyone help me fix this problem. Dell
told me this morning I needed to buy the entire $199 XP
software package. Is this true ??? / Thanks

Having a Windows disk, instead of having to start from scratch with a
"original condition restore" disk from Dell (which may be what they
supplied) is a plus.

I think you are possibly not supplying us the exact information or you
misunderstood Dell. Dell always provides an operating system disk and
disks with drivers and other applications that are preinstalled with
their systems, not a Restore Disk. It is one of the reasons to pick a
Dell machine instead of HP, Compaq, or Gateway. If your machine is
still under warranty and you've somehow lost the original disks - you
know, the ones that come with the "Do Not Lose These" warnings - you
probably can get Dell to replace them for less than $199. If your
machine is out of warranty, then that may be what is being said - that
you need to go buy XP for $199 and download drivers, etc. from Dell's
website. Post back with the missing details for more help.
