You can run msconfig, Choose startup and uncheck those you don't want to
run...or you can get the shareware prog. jv16 Powertools from www.jv16.org and
actually remove items from the startup(as well as many other handy utilities)
and keep a backup of said items in case you make a horrible blunder and need
something back.
