Start Up

Unable to start up windows xp. Processor is on, but it's not booting -
monitor is black. Checked mouse and monitor which are ok. Tapped F8 upon
turn on - still nothing. Could the system be stuck in hybernation? Help!!

Could be a power supply problem, if no other suggestions offered here pan out.
