Start Up

I have two problems -
1- Very slow ( 3 minutes)
2-Will load background programs & run them ( Task Manager says that thy're
up and going , Zone Alarm, Kaspersky etc , but not put icons into system tray
( this applies to Volume control and other standard icons). If I log out and
then back in again -bingo all is normal, full complement of icons in tray .


Any suggestions?

Click start/run enter "msconfig" See what programs are starting in the start
up tab. You can choose the programs you want to run at startup. To trouble
shoot a particular program unclick it and see if it speeds you up. It's a
trial and error process. See the following site for troubleshooting.

And if your boot up time is that bad..... programs running at startup may
not be your only problem....
