Start-up programs running as text files

Please help!!! Suddenly all my start up programs open as text files, as do
any applications I try to open. The only way round this is by right clicking
and entering my username and password. Does anyone know of a solution?

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
