I just recently purchased an Dell XPS410 with Vista Home Premium and every
time I start up the computer I get a Boot Sequence on the screen before it
goes to the main start up screen. Is this normal? If not how can I get rid of
the boot sequence? When I had XP I would not see this at start up, just on
reboots. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

What do you mean by 'boot sequence'? What exactly are you seeing? If you are
referring to the system POST where the devices are enumerated and the memory
is checked, this would be normal. Many manufacturers hide this behind a logo
or splash screen, but it still occurs. After this, you should see the Vista
loading screen, then eventually the logon screen.

Are you new to computers perhaps?

All computer run a thing called Post when they feed information to and from
the thing called the BIOS.
It tells the computer what you have plugged in and sends information to
your Ram memory so the computer can load those programs real fast. XP did it
as well.

Been awhile since had a Dell, but during the first boot screen
you will see a note telling you what key to press to enter BIOS setup.

Sometimes it's the Del key, sometimes F2, sometimes F8

iirc,
Once there look for an option to display or not display the dell logo

Hi,

Enter the system BIOS at that point of startup, locate the entry that allows
you to show/hide boot time diagnostics or enable/disable the logo screen.
Use the appropriate F key to exit saving changes.
