Nope.

and how can i resolve it.

Explorer problems are caused by poor software (Shell extensions, Add-
ons) in almost 100% of all cases. Remove the software installation that
you made prior to the first encounter of that problem provided that you
can still access Windows. If there was no such installation, it's very
likely that this problem is caused by Malware.

Yes you are correct it did happen after i installed a Logitech QuickCam. You
would think that their software should not cause this sort of issue, is there
any other way i can get a fix.

Boot to Safe Mode, click No so System Restore will run, and select a
date before the problem first occurred. If you can't go to Safe Mode,
press F5 during startup should give a menu that will allow you to
restore to an earlier date. Also, if you can start Windows in Safe
Mode, remove the software, then try a reinstall after all is working well.

In fact, I'm not really surprised. Logitech *hardware* is best, however,
Logitech driver software is a real pain in the neck from the very first
beginning and nothing has changed so far. All of my systems running with
a Logitech mouse for instance have Microsoft drivers installed. Even if
some special features are not available that way, I don't care too much.

Well, your QuickCam might depend on Logitech driver software and there-
fore, you may want to contact the maufacturer's tech support. This
should be the first approach anyway since that company will never ever
improve its software if nobody complains.

Well, no because I do not have Logitech QuickCams although I would
prefer them from the *hardware* point of view. Since I do not install
*any* Logitech software in general, I run several WebCams manufactured
by "Creative Labs" and "Siemens-Fujitsu" with my systems instead. And
that WebCams' driver software runs pretty stable, so there was actually
no need to look for possible driver replacements. Regarding Logitech
mice, they mostly did not accept the Microsoft drivers in the early days
of DOS and Windows, however, this has changed meanwhile.

Lance,

If you go to the Windows Update ( windowsupdate.microsoft.com ) site and run
a scan there may be a driver for that in the list of hardware files on the
left hand side. Look there, if not there then google is your freind.

i have finaly found the problem

Logitech Proccess Monitor

please read below the response from logitech support after about 8 emails
back and forth and abou 20 clean boots and installs.

we found that it was the logitech systm monitor that was causeing the
problem below is how to disable it. Asked if their is going to be fix for it
got the standard reply.

Lance, you can actually disable the Logitech Process Monitor, however it
will also disable the video effects feature (which should not affect your
camera, as it does not support video effects). You can however set this
manually. Please kindly refer to the following instructions to resolve this
issue that you are facing with.

1. Start > Run and enter "services.msc".
2. Locate Process Monitor, right click and select properties (refer to
attachment).
3. Set the service to become Manual if you would like to use video effects
occasionally.
4. You can start this service with the command: Start > Run > type: net
start "Process Monitor" to start the process. to stop type: net stop "Process
Monitor". (refer attachment for example). Please note that this service would
need to be set before launching the QuickCam software.

Thanks for the update, Lance. I wonder why I'm not really surprised. ;)
