Start-Up Error ole32.dll not found

I have an older E-Machines system running XP Home which I periodically
update---A couple days ago I was connected to the net and downloading some
Windows updates when the system froze ---I could not break the freeze with
keystrokes and the power switch wasn't working as well ---My only option was
to cut power ---Now, the following message appears when I boot the system
(both normal and safe modes)

winlogon.exe - Unable to Locate Component

The application has failed to start becasue ole32.dll was not found,
Re-Installing the application may fix this problem ...O.K. button

Is there anyway to fix this problem without using the E-Machines receovery
software (which will wipe out all of my data) Thanks Don

Hi
Either try System restore to an earlier date then try to troubleshoot.
Or try this:
The same put replace with ole32.dll instead of shell32.dl

Make sure the machine malware/virus free by scanning with an up2date software.
HTH.

Thanks Nass

I had updated the Symantec definitions prior to starting the Win Updates
downloads ---Let me look thru the info from these links and see if I can make
it work Don
