Start Up and Shut Down Problem

I have Window's XP and now when I start up and shut down
the computor asks me to log on and off of windows.
I have never had this happen before.
How can I get back to the regular start and shut down
proceedure????

U are pressing the wrong button dont press the log out button click o
the shut down butto
