start taskbar does not want to respond always busy

have windows xp home edition it takes for ever to come up
and then nothing wants to work the start taskbar on
botton of page is always busy cant get to my homepage or
anything something is wrong can you give me some tips to
see if i can repare it thanks

1st thing to try is the same thing most everybody in here usually suggests.
Boot to safe mode. If you hit the F8 key repeatedly at the beginning of the
Boot process a menu pops up allowing you to boot to safe moe. Then try to
restore XP to a previous date uncer Control Panel > Restore
If this doesn't work you may want to check 2 other things since it sounds
like a program is trying to load that can't.
Check your Startup folder to see if thee's anything there that you don't
want to start automatically. Check Add or Remove progams for any suspect
software installs that you don't want. Look for things like "Search Bar" or
proram names you've seen mentioned in this group or other newsgroups as
being spyware, malware, etc...
If this gets your system up and running download and run Spybot to finish
cleaning things out.
