When I click start, there's a pane for most often used
programs on the left. Something caused it to stop adding
shortcuts to this panel. Any idea how to fix? Thanks

Hi

Right click the Start button, select Properties and then Customise. Scroll down and uncheck 'Use Personalised Menus'.

Hi

A manual Registry edit - navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced (IntelliMenus)

What is IntelliMenus - in the right hand pane - set to? Set it to 0(Zero) if not already set.

| I've tried tweaking the properties setting, didn't help.
| Any other ideas?

This problem happens regardless of who's logged in. I
think you're on the right track though. Still looking in
reg.

Start Menu - MFU Issue:

Previously posted by Kelly:

Check your settings here: Start/Run/Regedit

Note: This setting only applies to the Windows XP Start Menu, not the Classic Start Menu.

HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

If you have this Value Name: NoStartMenuMFUprogramsList change the Value Data to 0 or delete the Value Name.

</quote>

This is a known issue! The following workaround might help as well.

* Change to Classic Start Menu and run a program and then revert back to New Start Menu [as a one-time procedure]
* Type Regsvr32 /i Shell32.dll in the Run box. Similarly, register browseui.dll. Restart Windows

The key you indicated didn't exist so I modified this
one :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\Explorer\StartMenu\StartMenu\IntelliMenus]

Didn't help though.
