What is the best way to add an existing program to the start menu so
that it starts when computer is booted up? I`m using XP Home. TIA

Add a shortcut to your startup folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Mal,

The Start menu is for starting programs on demand.

You can add programs to be automatically started into the Startup
folder. There are two Startup folders, one for All Users on the
computer, the other for each specific user, which apply whenever the
system is started.

1) All Users: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup\"
2) Individual Users:"C:\Documents and Settings\(Userid)\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup\"

You can copy shortcuts, using Windows Explorer, into either of the two
folders.
