start menu

Hi, when I click on the start menu it does not show all
of my programs. There are more on the list but they are
off the screen to the right. How can I make all my
programs visible?

To solve the problem immediately, right click the Start menu and select
Properties/Customize Button/Advanced tab. Place a check mark in the "Scroll
Programs" option. This will allow a single menu that you can scroll through.

What you need to do, long term is separate the manu items into categories
and move the items into a new folder for each category. This will
dramatically cut down the size of the start menu.

Thanks, but is taht the only way or view. That takes a
while to go thru the programs.

The problem is too many items in the All Programs menu. Arranging them by
category is the best option. This would enable you to quickly go to the
folder called Games and see all of the games displayed in a short menu
instead of scrolling through the entire list on the menu trying to locate
the game.

Right Click the All Programs button and select Explorer All Users from the
menu. This will open a Windows Explorer window with the Start Menu
highlighted. Right below the Start Menu that is highlighted, click on the +
sign by the Programs folder. In the right side window, right click an empty
spot and select New/Folder from the pop up menu. Tap the Backspace key to
delete the text and type in a name for the folder. This will be one of the
categories that you create.

Name it something like Games. This Games folder will now appear in the left
window. Drag all of the shortcuts that relate to this category in the right
window and drop them into this new folder, in the left window. Perform the
same process for any other categories you wish to create.

Now, when you click the Start/All Programs menu, the categories will be
shown and when you click a category, all of the items in that folder will
cascade out to display.
