In addition to my history dropdown complaint above, I also am having trouble
adjusting to the new Start Menu operation in regards to All Programs. I
liked the old version better where as you highlighted a selection, the next
level of menus slid open until you reached the target link. This new version
that just opens a list that looks like a File Manager window is not nearly as
user friendly. Any way to get the slide out style back?

P.S. I tried the "Classic" start menu setting, but that one was even worse.
It looks almost like the days of Windows 95. The XP style start menu was
great.

thank you ... you are it seems the only person that has ever said this
problem loud and clear...
This is a very non user friendly change... and a down right stupid one if
you ask me!

you can revert back to classic, but that start menu sucks.....

Vista should have had a way to select the XP style too...

I felt the same way as you at first, but it does grow on you. I now find
myself preferring it. When I use an XP machine, it often feels like a step
backward.

Use the search function from the Start Orb. Click on it, then type the
first few letters of the program. It will pop right up at in the list. The
integrated search is a nice feature. I rarely ever use the All Programs
menu. Or pin your favorite programs to the Start menu, or put a short cut
to it on the quick launch toolbar, or put a shortcut to the program on the
desktop or create a folder on your desktop with shortcuts to your most used
programs. There are many ways to accomplish something.
