Start menu > all programs problem

Hi Group

Don't know if anyone has experienced this before but here is my problem;

When I first boot up my system and go on the start menu > all programs, for
the first time, my computer freezes for about 10 seconds and then reverts
back to being perfectly normal until a reboot. My programs list is not
massive as I haven't got that much installed. My system is not networked.

I know it's not a major problem, it's just annoying.

Would appreciate any help.

TIA

This may be due to nothing more than the fact that WIndows is still
initializing things in the background, even though it is showing you
the desktop as if it is ready to go. Try waiting about 10 seconds
before you hit START for the first time. If the delay is gone, it would
tend to confirm the above.

Try by itself look into start folder. Can there something "wrong".

======
To begin with, let us see what the Start menu actually is. Actually, it
is a set of folders and shortcuts stored in a certain location in the
operating system.

Description: Computer shortcuts are small files containing only the
location of another file. In fact, a shortcut contains little
information so it is small. Shortcuts are usually stored on the desktop
and have a small white square in the corner with an arrow on it.

In multiuser operating systems, such as Windows XP, shortcuts and
folders from the Start menu are stored in the following folders -
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
For all users
C:\Documents and Settings\John\Start Menu
For the user John

To access these shortcuts and folders, just right-click the Start
button and select "Explore"
