Start in??

this is likely a pretty stupid question and likely
irrelevant to Access although as I am using it applies to
access specifically. Many of the databases I deploy I do
via a single instance on the database and multi users on a
network having shortcuts on their desktops.

Within these shortcuts I am able to set things like the
target, and different options available as far as work
groups, etc.

What exactly (And pointing me to a reference would be
fine!) is the "start up" used for?? I typically just use
the location where the access runtime "stuff" is, but I
have seen other locations used.

Thanks.

Are you referring to the "Start Up" menu item under Tools?

Or to something else?

I just leave it as the same directory as the (Front-End)
mdb file.

On that note, for a multi-user database, you really SHOULD
split the application to Front-End / Back-End mdbs. The
Back-End mdb contains only Tables and resides on a network
shared directory. The Front-End mdb contains all other
Access objects and each user should have a copy of the
Front-End on his/her destop.

Check Access Help on splitting a database.

I've never changed it, but if you click on the 'What's this' button (beside
the window close x), and then click on the Start In textbox, you'll get an
explanation.
