My start button is stuck at the top left corner and I can't drag it down to
the bottom left. The system tray items are also up there. I was able to drag
the quick launch items down but not these

So it's not the Start button and the System Tray, it's the *entire*
task bar.

Although by default the task bar appears on the bottom of the screen,
it can be on any of the sides you prefer it on. To move it from any
side to another, simply click on an unused part of it and drag it
where you want it. Be sure to click *within* it, not on the edge;
clicking on the edge and dragging will resize it.

If it won't move, it may be locked. In that case, right click on it
and uncheck "Lock the taskbar," then try again.

The Quick Launch bar is a toolbar, by default on the Task Bar, but it
can be dragged off the Task Bar and docked on another side of the
screen too.

That's what you did. Drag the QL bar back to the task bar before
dragging the task bar to the bottom.

Well, I restarted computer and quick launch is back on top, but I still
can't drag anything. Is there something in the registry that I could change

Thank you, Al

Note the important two points in my message below:

.. Be sure to click *within* it, not on the edge; clicking on the edge
and dragging will resize it.

.. If it won't move, it may be locked. In that case, right click on it
and uncheck "Lock the taskbar," then try again.

If neither of those is your problem, it will drag. Keep trying.

First you have to make sure the Taskbar is unlocked. Right-click the
Taskbar; if "Lock the Taskbar" is checked, click it to remove the check.

Then click on the Taskbar, in a blank area AFTER the running tasks, and
before the Language bar, or Notification area. You need to click the
"surface", not the border where you would resize the bar. While
clicked, drag it to the bottom of the screen.

Right-click the Taskbar, click "Lock the Taskbar" so it won't move again.

Just to clarify things. You have to click within the task bar itself to
drag it and *not* the quick launch area. The task bar is the bit with the
rectangular buttons that appear and disappear as you open and close
applications. The areas are deliniated with two vertical dotted lines but
only when the task bar is unlocked. Depending how your task bar is
arranged, you can also drag by clicking the area underneath the 'Start'
button (but only if there is such an area).
