My start mneu / task bar takes a good 30 - 40 seconds to load?
I can start a program from the desktop while waiting for it
to load.
Any ideas?

Hello!

Starrt >Run >msconfig >ok
Now click at startup tab and uncheck those
applications/programs which you don't need during Windows
startup>apply>Reboot
There is an excellent tool-Bootvis.exe which is unavailable
right at this moment.

Adjust the menu speed via TweakUI (under mouse settings).
