No problem - if you have a hex editor, know how to use it, and know the
data structure. But it's probably easier to go on the web and search for
a program that will do it for you.
I'd be sure to backup my system partition before playing with the Start
menu.
The easiest way is with a third-party program. I use the freeware Tclock
(not the similarly-named, but inferior, in my view, Tclockex), which can do
this and several other useful things.
Yes have a hex editor have used it on other programes to modify text strings
but not
sure how to takel the start button or ware to look. anybody can get
programes of the net but alas I'm the sort that likes to learn. Any advice
would be welcome
Go here:http://www.neowin.net/ and then click the forum button . There are a
lot of skinners on that site who will know exactly how to do what you want
I think resource hacker is the easiest application to use for this, there are
even plenty of sites devoted to using this to change the name in well under
10 steps.
Apparently there may be issuses in the length of the name space, using more
than 5 characters may produce unwanted results. Luckily my (real) name is
only 5 characters and have not tested this.
