stardust screensaver maker

how do i unpack this file as i have or someone has lost my original family
photos on there pc and now we only have this scrensaver with our photos,
it was made with a friends software called stardust screensaver maker or
something like that, it is by stardust software.

i have looked around the net with no luck as yet, any ideas where i can get
a programme to get my photos back from this screensaver?

I've never heard of it, so I have no idea where it stores the pictures but
you might try opening them with a program called "Resource Hacker". If it
can be opened with that you may be able to extract your photos. If may be
compressed though, in which case the above probably won't work. Might try a
program like WinRAR, but it's probably a proprietary format. I'll look
around though and see if I can find out anything.

If the photos were deleted on the other PC by mistake, you may be able to
get them back using file recovery software (but you'd have to do it before
the disk space is overwritten with new files).

Your best bet is contacting your friend and see if he has the originals.
Making a screensaver is a two (or more) process operation. The
compilation that you have would not be extractable.
But if they aren't available anymore, you could retrieve them one at a
time by hitting your "Print Screen" key when they come up. Then you can
go into Windows Paint or some other image software and paste the image,
then save it. Depending on how many there are, it may take a while. You
could set your screensaver for 1 minute so it'd come back up faster each
time.

Bad news, they designed the program to prevent the images from being
extracted in order to protect the content from "infringment". I tried
various programs to get into the ibx file it creates but no luck. Menno's
suggestion to use the print screen key to capture the images does appear to
work however.

thank you all for your help, I have already asked him to check but he
thought I already had the photos so deleted them!!

I shall look at the link that was given and report back my findings.
