Stange Hangs in 2k Pro

I have an athlon 1.2ghz machine just installed win2k pro
on it and now for some reason while the system is running
it hangs constantly... i get task manager up and running
and look at processes using the most cpu cycles and system
or winlogon is hogging 100% of the system. the system
will hang for anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes then
return to normal for 10 seconds to 5 minutes. This is a
fresh install of win2k, then i updated to sp4 then did the
rest of windows updates and have not installed anything
else... im scratching my head here because i cant figure
out why it hangs theres nothing else on the system. I did
have win2k sp2 (or 3 not sure) operational on the system
at one point in the past so im starting to think its
something in sp4... anyone else have any ideas please dont
hesitate to send them my way. Thanks Jim

Try upgrading the virtual memory, swap file to at least 512 MB
