running xp home,shutdown and restart icons ok standby
icon is greyed out. Reformated thre times no joy. How do
I get it to work? Help please.
 
If you motherboard supports it, you likely just have to update your video
drivers.

Reinstall or update your video drivers, then reboot. They become
corrupted fairly easily (some windows updates, etc.)
