I am running Windows XP Pro with all the latest MS updates installed. When
I try to put my machine into standby sleep mode it seems to lock up with a
frozen mouse. If I disable a SOHOware 10/100 Ethernet card, the sleep mode
works perfectly. I have an ABit NF7-s motherboard and I am using the
built-in LAN for my Internet connection.

If I replace the SOHOware card, can I before my system will go into sleep
mode?

Before replacing the card, go to their web site and see if they have
updated drivers for it. More than likely, the drivers being used are
either not MS signed or possibly they're are of poor design.

As inexpensive as 10/100 Ethernet cards are, you should be able to
replace it for less than $20.00 US if all else fails.
