standby problems

Hi,

My question is the following:
After having formatted my PC - and
re installed XP with the annex recovery
disc - It is impossible for me to set my
computer in standby (the option is no
more available).

What can I do in order to solve this?

Here is a Dell forum discussion on loss of standby. It appears that
the initial poster lost the function after installing some patches and
upgrades to his new computer. Success was obtained by reinstalling
video drivers.
