When I come out of standby mode I find that my printer
has shut it's self down. I have to shut down my system to
turn my printer back on. There should be a way to
configure this out. Any suggestions?

Make sure you have the latest XP compatible drivers for that printer. Older
drivers may work, but you can see unexpected behavior such as this.

If no updated drivers are available, try the following.

When you resume from Standby, select Start/Run, type: cmd and press OK.

At the command prompt, type the following.

net start spooler

and press ENTER. This will start the print spooler service. Try to print
something. If this does not work, the printer may not be compatible with the
system standby in XP.
