standby mode

i installed windows xp on my sons computer and it runs great, but the standby
mode is all grey and wont work, the shutdown,and restart work fine, is there
a setting i forgot to do please help!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you installed the display drivers yet? If not, install the drivers
first and see if Standby function is activated.
