Just Me

When I put my computer in Standby it continues to make noise.

Like the fans or disk is still running.

Is that typical?

Is it the disk of fans?

Thanks in advance

There are different levels of standby. What your system is capable of is
dependent upon your M/B and it's bios. The S3 level of standby is the
deepest sleep. Everything, including the computer fans, is off. The power
light will blink to let you know that you are in this state.

You can go here to read about standby. It applies to Windows XP also.

Hi,

Depends on the power down state that is being achieved. You will find short
descriptions of them here: http://rickrogers.org/standby.htm Some levels
leave the case and cpu fans running, as well as the hard drive(s).
