Standby Blocked

Every time I try to place my laptop into standby mode I
get a message saying my 56K MDC Modem is stopping it from
entering standby and I should dowmload new drivers. But,
there are no new drivers out there. Anyone have a
similar problem?

Is this a software modem built into the laptop or is it a pcmcia add
in card modem?

Reason I ask is because some laptops (Toshiba for one) have settings
to start the built in modem when XP boots. It may be possible to stop
the modem from starting (not loading drivers) and would solve your
standby problem. If it's a card modem, then the only resolution
would be updated MS signed drivers.
