I have the recovery CD's and wish to do a standard restore which is a
non-destructive recovery for recovering factory-shipped programs, drivers and
operating system without affecting data files. What is there to look out for
trap wise and I have since replaced the Cd with a DVD does that need to be
replaced first back to original.

Recovery CDs will erase your entire hard disk and reinstall the software
that was installed at the factory. Anything you don't backup --
including your data files -- will be permanently deleted.

Leonard, I understand that and its what i want to do, but do i need to put
back the original CD writer i got with the machine or will the DVD writer i
put in work ok with the discs. Any traps to look for, i am not that much into
computer knowledge

Recovery CDs are proprietary, i.e., each manufacturer can design them to
work as they wish. Therefore, contact your computer manufacturer.
