Standalone to standalone connection problem.

I have two standalone servers on the same network. On each local computer
the server belongs to a workgroup which is called workgroup. I know there is
no hardware failure as the computers were running fine whilst set up as a
domain. However, now they are both standalone they can not see each other.
Can anybody give me a point to why this may be.

What do you mean by cannot see each other? Is it that they cannot ping each
other or they are not visible to each other when you browse the workgroup
workgroup (if you see what I mean) in Network Neighbourhood?
If the former, what are the IP configurations of each machine?
If the latter, remember that a WINS server is required for browsing
functionality.
