stand by button does not work?

Stand-by works well until I install a scientific software used in physics
labortory. After the installation the stand-by button came to be grey and can
not be clicked. It remains unchanged after I uninstall that software. Could
anybody please help me?

I would contact the author of the software in question.

You might want to talk to the folks that make this "scientific software"
about the issues.
