Stanby/Hibernation question

Hello
I have a system which I am trying to set in the power settings in display
properties. I set it to hibernate when I push the sleep button on the
keyboard. It works fine for a day or two, then XP decides IT wants to
standby when I push the sleep button, Why does XP change the settings on
it's own, and how can I make it do what I want it to do?????

Thanks
Lee

Not sure why that happens but maybe it's because you're using the Sleep
button. Try this instead--change the power button instead. Change "When I
press the power..." to Hibernate. I've found this works well. To wake from
Hibernation, press the power again.

The problem with that is when you can't shutdown normally for whatever reason. Using the power
button hibernates with the problem intact. Waking it up resumes the problem. In that case, to
shutdown, you need to pull the plug, and on a laptop, remove the battery too.
