when visiting some websites, I get the following error message:
The page you are trying to view requires the use of a Web browser configured
for 128-bit encryption

I never got this message before while visiting the same sites, any
suggestions

Under the Help Menu, select About Internet Explorer.

is 128 set correctly?

It may be corrupt if you reinstall make sure it's the one for your operating
system.
