Spyware

I had a user runnning MS Spyware and she had some type of tool bar that took
over her search abilty in IE. We updated MS Spyware and scanned about three
direrent times and no luck with restoring IE back. We downloaded Ad-Aware SE
and did an update and a scan it found six reg entries and it fixed the
problem. Why did MS Spyware not pick this up?

It can take time for a given antispyware vendor to get something like that
defined and the removal routine working, and distribute the definitions.

Microsoft Antispyware should have alerted the user to the original
installation--but if the app was already installed, that wouldn't have
happened, of course.

Microsoft doesn't publish a list of what is detected, and when the
detections are added, so there's no way to research this, unfortunately.
