Hello All,
Hope all is clicking good.
User had some crappy spyware, powerstrip, which was succesfully taken off
along with others from his XP Pro system. However, now when opening another
IE windows from an existing windows (say a link within a site:
right-click>open in in Window), IE craps out giving the following error, with
the Window Title: Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library

and the actual error:

Program:C:\Program\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
abnormal program termination
(Press Retry to debug the application)

Option in this windows are:

Abot Retry Ignore

& IE just closes down.

Tried repairing IE by following this q318378 using method 1 and nada. Then
applied SP2 and nothing again. It seems like reinstalling XP is the only
option.

Event Viewer shows entry 1000, pointing to an specific DLL. Perhaps
obtaining this DLL from another XP Pro & replacing with it may do it?

The guy's got a system he can't live w/o and downtime is unacceptable. Can't
believe I wrote all of this for this IE issue. Mozilla does not install
spyware.
TIA!
Angelo

If Mozilla itself will not install, you might have some mal-ware or more
spyware installed. Maybe even a virus of some type. It's hard for some
users to have down time, but when it gets like this situation, it might be
faster to start from scratch, and that way the user will have a clean system
to work with. On a side note, it helps the user to understand to not
install this type of software... good old negative reinforcement.
