Spyware Opportunities

Nate

Thank you to MSFT for all the work on Spyware so far.

I have Windows XP and SP2 on a notebook PC. I have run
Spybot, Norton, MSFT Anti Spyware, and Ad-Aware
(Lavasoft) on a regular basis and am up-to-date on scans.

The following is a list of "open items" that could still
be addressed (stuff that is still on my computer or that
still pops up) (compiled last night). The list is not
intended to be complete, and any one item may require
elaboration. Some items on the list may not need to be
addressed. It would be nice to have MSFT look into this
stuff.

1. http://banners.pennyweb.com

2. http://www.partypoker.com/marketing
(gambling popups are repeated and common)

3. popup - "Give you family the protection they deserve"
"Click her for instante Quotes"
(Life insurance ads are a pretty regular popup)

4.http://media.adrevolver.com - "click here for more info"

5. Tracking Cookie - IE Cache Entry
(Data Mine - repetectly detected and deleted by Lavasoft)

6. DSO Exploit (5 entries) - repeatedly detected by
Spybot but unable to fix permanently. Is this a hole in
IE?

7. http://www.oinadserve.com - "click here"

8. http://ads1.revenue.net - a dating service
(various dating services are repeated pop-ups)

9. http://z1.adserver.com - some company offering to
clear my computer registry

10. Norton - there are still numerous items identified
by Norton Anti-Virus that my computer is not able to
delete. This is the subject of a separate post (long
list of items).
