Spyware has added features to IE

C

Chris

I recently had spyware on my system and it added certain
features and links to Internet Explorer. I removed the
spyware, but:

1. I still have added items on some of my drop-down
menus, and

2. Whenever I type in a web address, it redirects me to
another page!

I can't even uninstall IE. When I go to "Add/Remove
Programs", IE isn't even listed! Can anyone help me???

Chris,
It sounds like you still have malware installed. To clean up tools and other
menu items, try Toolbar Cop from http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Toolkit.htm

Then try these parasite removal programs in this order.

Download and run Run CWShredder from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

Then download, install, *update* and run both of these programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ (Remove items listed in red-others are
optional.)
Both programs should be updated after installation- before use.

If these programs don't remove the malware, HijackThis should be used to
post a log to the appropriate forum at one of these sites.
HijackThis instructions and download:

Don

Thanks for this advice. Toolbar Cop has removed 2
persistent intrusive (pornographic) items which had
installed themselves in my toolbar and remained even
after I had removed them from elsewhere with BHODemon.

Word of advice - don't click on any IQ test pop-up ads
that appear to you, especially if they are associated
with Einstein!
