Spyware.Cookie.Com?

Terry Pinnell

After a clean run from both Adaware and Spybot last night, and with
AVG installed and monitoring, I was surprised when a (rare) scan with
ewido Security Suite this morning reported this infection:

C:\Documents and Settings\[Myname]\Cookies\terry@com[2].txt ->
Spyware.Cookie.Com : Cleaned with backup

Can anyone tell me any more please?

You mean about alerts on cookies? For the most part, cookies
are harmless, but they have been been used maliciously in
orchestrated buffer overrun attacks. It's not a bad idea to
set your browser to not allow any cookies other than those
you approve of. Here's something I wtrote on this:

Thanks Art, I'll take a look at NoScript. BTW, do you mean you don't
use the BookMark Toolbar? That's one of my most-used features of FF!

Re my OP, actually I meant about that *specific* cookie,
Spyware.Cookie.Com. I normally treat cookies as harmless or useful,
but ewido for one seems to single that one out as a villain.

Excellent Art, I like that FF add-on. Amazing how many other url's some
sites try to download over and above the main one you look at ;-0. If
you know what I mean.
