spyder software and curve programs and trojans, oh my!!!!

My home page default has been taken over by "Global
Finder.com" by a trojan which my eTrust anti-virus
detects but can't get rid of, and now recently "Cool
Search.com" has taken over my home page by spyder
software and curve programs. I am using xp home edition
which came w/ the eTrust EZ anti-virus software. How can
I manually change the home page default in xp as I tried
through tools to internet options to general and
restart???
Both Global Finder and Cool Search are search engines and
neither have tech support or an email contact address.
Should I not be able to choose the home page I want on my
computor??? How can I purge my hardrive of these
pirates??? Eager to here any reply. Thank's.
