SpyBot Search and Destroy vs. AntiSpyWare

I performed a full AntiSpyWare (which detected and fixed
a heap of issues). I then ran SpyBot and found a mass of
other supposed infections that were not detected by
AntiSpyWare. I have the list if you're interested.

Interestingly the Solid Peer (Buddy.EXE) was not detected
and reported by AntiSpyWare.

If you've got the system in the state as cleaned by Microsoft Antispyware,
but not yet cleaned by Spybot Search & Destroy, you might submit a Tools,
suspected spyware report from the system detailing the finding about Solid
Peer and any other non-cookie item that Spybot found.

Antispyware is not scanning cookies in this release, which may account for
part of the difference between the two sets of detections.

Actually MAS is missing critical things other than cookies and I've ran
across one nasty it idents but can't deal with. Than again, neither could
AdAware/Spybot at least in the order initially ran. I'm almost done with
secone phase testing.

I've got to try to recreate. The bastig that wouldn't go away finally went
although I'm still seeing strange things in the HJT. OTOH nothing, not even
KAV with really tightened down sigs, calls out the potential I'm looking at.

I'm going to get around to putting virtual PC on this laptop (which has the
space and cpu to run it) and doing some more in depth testing. I may need
to ask for private recommendations of sites, although I think I may focus on
the issue of folks losing their MP3's--and I think I know where to go to
find those!

There are some things you should be aware of when testing this crap in a VM
that minimizes possible impacts on a production machine.

I'll be in touch--I consider the laptop delicate, although I spend hours
just using it as I am now--as a Remote Desktop for my main box.
