Spybot S&D

Just downloaded Spybot S&D and installed it. Upon the first use, on the left
hand side, it asked about backup etc and on the bottom left, it has the
"next" button. Instead of clicking "next", I click on the "backup" etc.
Now, when I used the SD, and when I click 'fix the problem", it will give me
a message that it is creating a restore point. How can I get rid of this
"create restore point". I tried to uninstall SD and re-install it, but it
continue to give me the message of "crerating restore point" when I click
"fix the problem"
Also when do we click "immunize", Is it after we "fix the problem"
Your help is greatly appreciate and sorry to post in this newsgroup.TIA

Creating a restore point is a GOOD THING. It lets you recover in case
you have SBS&D delete something important.

Immunize is good at any time, it's something that impacts IE, the
removal process works on malicious items, which is not an immunization
thing.

After you download and install SpyBot S&D, run the update.
After the update, run Immunize.
Set the program view to Expert and you'll see all the
optional settings, you can customize the program behavior to
you likes and desires.

Always check for new updates before scanning, this applies
to all spyware and anti-virus programs.

The Backup part is backing up the registry.

The Restore Point part will happen everytime you chack for problems,
it's by design and you cannot disable it.

The Immunize part do anytime after downloading updates.

yes, I updates after downloading, then I run the scan (internet off), then I
immunised. Now, I cannot even go to any websites, because Active X cannot
display properly etc (another post under a different heading). Does
immunization affect Active X setting or anything at all?

Not so Steve, in Advanced Mode go to Settings > Settings > Main settings.
The 7th item of that section is "Create system restore point when fixing
spyware/usage tracks [Win XP only]". Below that is "Create system restore
point when fixing system internals [Win XP only]". Both can be turned off,
uncheck them.

As for the SBS&D backups of what it fixes they are dealt with by the 4-6
items of the same section.
