Spybot S&D problem

After updating spybot s & d (from their safer networking #3) mirror, i ran
it's immunize function, which triggered amicrosoft antispyware warning that
spybot was adding "adservs.com" to my trusted website list. i of course
clicked "block"...
is this a problem with compatibility or was spybot's latest update acually
corrupted?

Any suggestions?

There is no problem with Spybot S&D. The problem is a "bug" in Microsoft
Antispyware. It cannot differentiate between the restricted sites and the
trusted sites, so it thinks Spybot is putting items into the trusted sites
when it is not. Spybot was putting that item in the restricted sites. To
avoid this conflict, turn off Microsoft Antispyware briefly whenever you
enable Spybot's updated immunizations. Afterwards you can turn MSAS back on
and there will not be a problem. You can test this for yourself by doing the
immunization and then going to Internet Options and looking at your trusted
sites and you restricted sites.

I'll just chime in here to agree with everyone else, and note that Larry's
given the URL for the KB article explaining this. This is a bug in
Microsoft Antispyware.
