Thanks Robin, for this feedback. If your good news continues, I'll update to
1.5 myself.

and, put it on 4 other systems today (6more to go) and no problems
but i have a suggestion if you have 1.4
Follow this: it came from spybot's website
Download the new version but do not install it yet- do a save as
Uninstall 1.4 by add/remove programs-it will ask for a reboot- do it
When computer comes back to xp- Remove this folder: C:\Program Files\spybot
search & destroy (and all sub folders)
pick up this registry file using IE (firefox doesn't allow you to download
it) at
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/howto/uninstall.html
scroll down till you see "very small fix"- click it and save it also to a
folder on your hd
Once saved- go to that folder and double click the registry file and follow
what it says
Reboot your computer again
Now install 1.5

You will get a cleaner install and less problems.

Blimey! I updated Spybot yesterday in a hurry - ticked all the boxes without
checking what they were, and suddenly I was in the middle of a 1.5
installation!

I stopped it of course, and will follow your routine Robin, later. I notice
from recent posts in the Spybot forum that although installing 1.5 on top of
1.4 is a recommended procedure, several people have come unstuck doing that.

Further to this - I see from the Spybot forum that a lot of people are still
experiencing problems swapping from 1.4 to 1.5, and I've decided to stick
with 1.4 for a while longer, until it's clear that the hassle potential of
1.5 has significantly reduced.
