Spreadsheet as OLE object in AutoCAD LT

Hello Everyone!

I am a bit perplexed by why what I am doing is not
working.

I would like to insert a select group of cells as an OLE
object into my AutoCAD LT 2002 drawing. I have selected
the desired cells and copied them. Then once I go into
the drawing I have two options I could paste it normally
and embed it or paste special it and link it to the
spreadsheet. I would like for it to have a link to the
spreadsheet, so that changes to it will be automatically
updated on my drawings. The updating is working like
magic, the problem is that the cells that I paste special
are not all showing up. It seems to drop off a few
columns only when I use paste special. When I just paste
it normally it pastes it all. I have played around a bit
and found that when I double click on the portion that is
pasted as a link using paste special it opens the link
worksheet to edit it and all of the cells are highlighted,
so it knows what I initially wanted to paste. So to
summarize...why are all the cells not showing up????

Many thanks!

Try this: Select the cells and hold Shift+Edit>Copy Picture>make a choiceof
type. Paste into CAD...OR Paste Special>Paste Picture into CAD.

Jim,
Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, I would like to have
the cells linked to the drawing, which allows the
information on in the spreadsheet to be automatically
updated on the drawing. I was unaware of the
Shift+Edit>Copy Picture option, so I did learn something
and will likely take advantage of that in the future :o)

For anyone that may be interested in an explaination to my
problem, I read the following from a CAD newsgroup called
Cadalog.com.

In R2002 and below (can't say for R2004), you're limited
to basically one page of Excel attached in ACAD. By
changing the paper size and font height in Excel we've
been able to attach/link/embed about 140 lines of Excel.
If you have more lines than that you'll need two separate
files

....so basically it is a limitation of AutoCAD not Excel.
The Excel Gods can rest easy.

I have never used CAD. Is there an option to Insert Object>Create from
File>Link to File or similar?
