Sporadic Mouse movement

I have a Dell 8300, running XP with all the latest
updates and fixes. Have had a problem with my mouse since
way back. As I move the mouse pointer, it sporadically
hangs for seconds, then is OK again. Very noticeable.
Switched to a Microsoft USB mouse, same results. Went
back to a Microsoft PS/2 mouse but have the same results.
Have upgraded to all the latest drivers but the problem
persists.

This is a standard problem. Clean the rollers in the mouse. They
accumulate some hard cruft that interferes with the ball operation.

Please! Mouse wheel is not the problem here. Purchased
mouse new! Have even installed optical mouse.... same
problem. Move mouse across screen and pointer stops.
Sporadic.

Possibly an update to the video card drivers may fix this. Visit web
site of vid card manufacturer and see what version they have released
for your card.
