sporadic CDROM access in Win2k pro

I have a Dell Latitude that I have Win2K pro on and the OS
is constantly trying to spin up the CDROM every few
seconds. I have no idea why this is, but it keeps
happening even thought there is not a CD in the drive. In
order to make it stop (so I don't have to listen to this
annoying interlude)I eject the drive bay and leave it open
while working on the laptop.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Anti Virus trying to check the drive? You could try turning off AutoRun
in the Registery too.
