Spoolsv and printing issues

We are experiencing some trouble with our printers. We first encountered the
problem from a Windows 98 which gave the error:

There was an error writing to \\server\printer for printer (Kyocera Mita
KM-3035 XX): There was a problem printing to the printer due to an unknown
system error. Restart Windows and then try printing again. The printer will
be set to work offline.

This seemed to only affect our 98 machines for a couple days. Then the
problem spread to our thin clients (Windows CE, Embedded XP) and XP machines.
We’ve tried moving the printers to a different server and shared them out
from there. This seemed to temporarily fix the problem, but it soon
returned. Now I have a few users here and there that cannot print to the
Kyocera machines. One the XP machines the CPU usage spikes to 100% because
of the spoolsv.exe.

We’ve run virus scans, mailware and adware scans. None of these have come
up with any answers.

The Spooler service becoming corrupted is almost always a sign of bad
drivers.

We've reinstalled the drivers per the manufacturer of the printers. They had
a cleaner utility to clear off all of the components left behind by the
installation of the drivers.

If the spool service is corrupt, how do I recover it?

i'v always been told to go into printer control panel and turn off
spooling.let the printer print directly from the web.its faster.if it failes
then turn on spooling.
