spontaneous restart

can someone help me diagnose why when i added my printer
and modem to my computer it keeps shutting off and on by
itself when i try to go on the internet
 
Rt click on MyComputer>select Properties>Advanced>Startup and
Recovery-Settings>Uncheck Automatically Restart Box. Did you have to
install any XP drivers for the printer or modem?
