Thanks to Mark Ferguson and "Frodo" for the previous replies. I have tried
all their suggestions but still no joy.
While I'm not getting "reboots" any more, I am still constantly freezing,
and not just the Application, XP hangs as well, no way out except a power
down reboot.
I have tested my memory countless times, it's good even bought new RAM,
installed it, and it still freezes. The freeze is ALWAYS during periods of
HIGH processor activity (never freezes sitting around doing nothing, or
reading email or doing word processing). The crashes are always during
operations (like Premier or After Effects rendering, or 3D Animations renders
when the processor level is near to 100% for extended periods) of high
processor activity, or high-disk activity.
The event log always ends up with the following message just before the
freeze:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Windows saved user THOMS-PC\Thom registry while an application or service
was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's
registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no
longer in use.
This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring
the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Just for review, all this started after I installed SP2, but I've tried
uninstalling (and testing, still freezes) and re-installing (still freezes).
Anyone have any ideas?
