you might 'deselect - automatic restart' if on
go start/right click - my computer/properties/
go advanced - tab/
go startup and recovery - section/settings/
go system failure - section/
deselect - automatically restart/if already on/
go ok/
go apply/
and take it fr there

Ray,

I am having the same problem with a new HP Media Center
computer. I called HP and they said that it was most
likely due to software programs that are not compatable
with XP.

I my case it is Quicken 2000 that they said was
definately not compatable with XP. I have been unable to
find out what other programs are not compatable...

Good luck,

Joel C.K.

hutch, Joel CK,

Thanks for your info etc.

Managed to pick up how to checkdisc from this n/g, and have done this. At
the moment all seems to be well.

Error message pointed to partition with tifs, oe messages etc.

Lets see what happens now.

Ray.
